Our History

Faith Bible Church begins in February of 1980 when a small group of believers attending Metropolitan Baptist Church in Oklahoma City gather to explore the viability of beginning a Bible-based fellowship in Edmond.

The group of believers meets for a few months on Sunday evenings in a home with Russell McKnight serving as Pastor. Utilizing the facilities of an Edmond day-care center the church begins regular services on the first Sunday of June, 1980.

On July 1, 1990, the church purchases five acres of land at 600 N. Coltrane and construction of a church building begins in late September of that same year. With great excitement the church body moves into their new permanent facility on February 24, 1991.

Due to poor health Russell McKnight resigns as Pastor in 1990. One year later on October 29, 1991, Mark Hitchcock is called to serve as Pastor. It is at this time that FBC begins to experience some growing pains so in August of 1994 Scot Overbey is called to serve as Associate Pastor.

Faith Bible continues to grow and additional space is needed. In order to meet its growing needs the church purchases five adjoining acres of land to the south and begins making plans for enlarging the church building itself. Ground breaking for an expansion to the sanctuary and a new educational and office wing occurs in June 1997.

The project is completed and the new facility is formally dedicated on March 8, 1998.

On September 1, 1998 the FBC Pastoral Staff is enhanced as Ron Brown arrives to serve as our Youth Pastor.

In 1998, Kym Overbey begins serving as the Children's Ministry Coordinator.

On May 1st 1998, Rose Shaffer is hired to serve as Church Secretary.

On July 1, 2000 our Pastoral Staff is enhanced yet again with the arrival of Dr. David Cotten to serve as Pastor of Senior Adults.

June 3, 2001 marks the completion and dedication of our 2nd building expansion which provides FBC with an additional 6,000 feet of adult and youth classroom space.

In January of 2003 we bid farewell to Youth Pastor Ron Brown and his family as Ron accepts a call to Pastor in Idaho.

Youth Pastor, Jay Risner arrives at FBC in March of 2003. Jay had been serving as a Youth Pastor in Enid, OK for the previous five years.

In 2003, Todd Lance joins the Faith Bible Church staff as Worship Pastor.

On February 13, 2006, Terri Barnhart is hired to serve as Secretary.  Terri is hired to replace longtime FBC Secretary, Rose Shaffer.

On September 14, 2008, FBC hires John Frawley to serve as its new Student Ministries Pastor.

On June 7, 2009, FBC breaks ground on its new $7.3MM building expansion and remodel project.

God has proven to be tremendously faithful in answering prayer and meeting our needs here at Faith Bible Church. However, we strongly believe that our greatest years of ministry are still yet ahead of us.

Forward With Faith!
